I'm just curious....so much is made of possible 'symptoms' of acute HIV. Lots of folks panic....some for valid reasons...others not so.
I was just wondering looking back on your experience if you showed signs of infection and, if so, did your diagnosis come as a surprise? Interested in hearing personal accounts.
Thanks

Dear scareforce. You are right about one thing and that is that there is way too much made about symtoms, whether you have them or not.
When I was first diagnosed 13 yrs ago, I had no symptoms that I can recall. Certainly, nothing that I ever suspected. You know, the occassional winter cold and summer sniffles that I usually relegated to the arena of pollen allergies.
My wife and I were married seven years when we decided to be tested. Our physician at the time encouraged it since he knew my history. When my wife's test came back negative, I was greatly relieved because I surmised that if she was negative then, certainly, I would be as well. Well, my test came back positive. Actually I suspected it was positive when I went for the results. I knew that no one could be that lucky. Besides, I had this basic "Eyeore" personality. YOu know, "the glass is half full".
SInce then, in the past 13 years my wife has always tested negative and I have remained relatively healthy. I gone past the time when every cold and sore throart sound the alarms of doom. Hope this information helps. Chris

14 Years ago I was working, came in for the weekend it rained a lot that week, my Property has a pond in the middle of it, I went to unclog a stream got my feet wet came back to the house and my feet started stinging and getting red I took and alergy Pill with no results, the red was burning going up my legs then up body! I went to Eurgy Care, The Doctor did not know what it was? He gave me steriod pills. The next day I was admitted for test at VA. I was healthy as they say a Horse, never been to a Doctor except for shots. The test came back the Doctor had no Idea what was wrong, in the meantime the redness had gone away. He ask me what test he should run? My Freind who I lived with me told me to ask about a HIV Test I said I will ask him it was run test and you know the rest I had HIV. My Freind who has tested negitive tested Nagitive 5 times still no HIV. For 14 year and I never had any other simptoms after the redness and the redness was not HIV it was and alergy.
