hi everyone, im new to this site but i have to talk to someone because im going crazy and have nowhere else to turn. Im straight but a few months ago I had protected anal sex as the bottom with a guy i had met on the internet. (stupidest and probably the biggest mistake of my life) He used a condom and was in me for a few minutes then came inside the condom. To my knowledge the condom did not break. I have not spoken to him since and have not been able to find him on the site on which i met him. I dont know if he had anything or not. A few weeks ago I found a bump on the shaft of my penis, so i went to my doctor and he told me it was just a blocked hair follicle and it would go away eventually. I was feeling fine and ok but something in the back of my mind told me to go get checked for stds. Last week I ended up going to an std clinic and getting a blood test for hiv and syphlis and a urin test for gono and clamidia. I had to wait a week to get the results. In the mean while during this week I have not been able to sleep thinking about what if im hiv+. I have a gf and we have had sex unprotected once after the incident. During this week I have no appetite, have loss about 10lbs. and i have white on my tounge and a very uneasy feeling. I get my test results back tomorrow. I was just wondering If these symptoms are any indicator on hiv or is it just the stress of waiting for the results. I have been on the computer alot looking up symptoms on google so im not sure if its in my head or something more. Thanks for listening and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

As you might have read already symptoms are not a good way to determine your HIV status. On top of that, a person who has a lot of worry/anxiety/stress over a possible exposure can feel very down and even physicially sick due to the worry and stress. You did the right thing in getting tested even though you had safe sex by using a condom. Best of luck with your test results and I will bet you that they will be negaive based on what you described in your post. Also, stop looking at the web and "symptom surfing". Doing so will make you think you have almost every symptom you read about!!!

Regards,
Ronnie
