I'm a 21-year-old male, in decent shape, exercise semi-regularly, have never smoked or had a single drink. Last night heartburn was keeping me up later than I'd planned, and as I was surfing around on the web, I suddenly had a really terrible icepick type pain in the top right of my head. It lasted about half a minute and then subsided, but after it went away, it felt like a small portion of my face was..."heavier" than usual. The area from the underside of my right eye to the bottom of my right nostril still feels a little bizarre, but I'm not sure if that even means anything. It is not numb, as I can feel the same way I can on the other side, but it feels almost swollen, though it most certainly is not. I am admittedly a hypochondriac, and have clinically diagnosed OCD about my health, but this was not my imagination.

Should I assume this was a mini-stroke, or are my symptoms too few and not severe enough?

Well, here's what I find odd: that you came to an internet site, rather than going to a physician or the emergency room to assist you to diagnose this issue. If it were me, I would go to one or the other ASAP. The issue may be nothing, but it is significantly problem that it could a stroke, intercerebral bleed or hemorrhage, or transischemic attack (TIA). Since no one here can either seen the facial droop or take your blood pressure, I think you silly not to get this checked out. Please do...chris
