When needed the seal between the two is broken allowing for mixing & loaded into a syringe with 1 or 1.5 inch long needle (depends on the size of your hip), to be injected into the "muscle" of the outer thigh, midway between the knee & hip. You & others who may have to give you this shot should be trained by a nurse or doctor. I have two emergency kits. Each has two of these viles, a couple syringes & some alcohol wipes. Also directions on how to give the shot, letter from endo describing how I should be cared for if in crisis or trauma & a paragraph or two telling what addisons is. Any & all of this could be a life saver if needed. I was diagnosed in 1998 & have never had to use my emergency shot, but have to carry it everywhere. Wanda fernan1 09-23-2006, 09:31 PM just wanted to let you know i was able to get the cortisol injection from walmart. they had to special order it but i got it. |
