I am 35 years old and have PCOS, dxed hypothyroid two mths ago. I have 5 yr old triplets which I had with the help of fertility treatments.
I stopped taking the pill a year ago since I stopped having periods on them. I was also getting constant yeast infections. In March 2006 I went to my PCP because I could no longer taste and my tongue was burning. Tested tsh and dxed with Hashimotos, eventually hypo and put on synthyroid.
Even on synthryoid, my tongue was still burning, I was getting neck pain, back pain, dizziness and spacey (could not drive), headaches, no periods (provera will give me a light one) and extreme fatigue. My gyn put me on Yasmin and all my symptoms ended I feel great, sweaty at night but great.
I am on the placibo week and all my symptoms have come back and the only discharge I have is a small amount of brown- no period.
I really want a hormone that is continuous-I hate feeling this way. I am not going to have a period anyway why why why do I have to take the pill.
Is there any med out there that you can take that you do not have to stop to have a period that I will not have anyway?
I see her on Monday and get to see my blood results. Thank you for any help you can give me...

ggg123~
I am sorry to hear about your dx. of Hashimoto's.
Hashimoto's is an autoimmune disease. Early menopause (or POF-premature ovarian failure) is also an autoimmune disease. If you are dx. with one, you are at a higher risk of developing another.

I have been doing tons of research on both of these. I am 39, dx. POF. I am currently being tested for Hashi's (awaiting results).

What blood work have you had done? I am hoping an Estradiol and FSH. Yasmin is great during perimenapause years. If your blood levels test at post-menapause levels, talk with your dr. about a continuous hormone replacement therapy. There are alot of different types. Talk to your dr. about which one would be right for you.

Good luck at your appointment. Let us know how it goes.

PS I have also heard somewhere that if you are on thryoid and estrogen, that your thyroid dose might need to be increase. Ask your doctor about that too.
