i have read on other boards that moisturizing drops can throw off the balance in your tear composition.....and, when i think back....the times when i was not using any drops were times when things were actually quite better.....should some of us not be using drops?

I use the drops when my eyes are dry - I think it helps. I also take
Thera Tears Nurtrition for dry eyes and they really help me. They are
a blend of omega 3's, vit e and flaxseed. I get them at CVS.

My Opthomologist recommended I use Refresh brand natural tears. He wanted me to use them as often as I needed them, which at times can be up to 6-8 times a day. It is worse to have your eyes irritated and constantly inflamed.
Some brands of natural tears have preservatives in them. You might want to take a look for one that doesn't.

I asked the pharmacist who said that these drops have made some folks' eyes produce fewer tears naturally. she says it can be a problem long term. her description was that it made the eye "lazy." who knows.

I have dry eyes.
I have had painful little tiny clear blisters appear on the clear covering of my eye.
Visine Tears on a constant basis have cleared up that problem for me.
I've also developed an eyelid Tic due to the dry eyes and Refresh Tears and Visine Tears was recomended for that.
So EVERY DAY I use Refresh Tears before bed and Visine Tears multiple times during the day hours.
Works for me. I'm grateful those two exist because they have really helped me.
My Dr's warning was:
Do NOT use the drops that "get the red out" nor the ones for allergies.
Those are designed to dry up the tiny blood vessels and that of course make the eyes dryer.
I am to only use the lubricated moisturizing ones.
Refresh Tears is a thicker liq than Visine Tears and that is why I use Refresh at night and the Visine Tears in the daytime.
I NEED them.
My eyes are really a problem and my eyes "tell me" when I need to put in the drops.
But if you don't need them, then don't use them.
You should only use them when your eyes feel the need.
