my girlfriend and i are both virgins and wish to have sex.is it still necessary to have a STD Test to get checked?

If either has had oral sex with other partners they could have a STD.

Dear imawke: If you both are, in fact, virgins and neither of you have ever participated in any kind of sexual activity (not including masturbation) including oral, vaginal or anal, then it would not be necessary to be tested for STDs. There are possibilties that some people don't consider oral sex actual sex (remember Bill CLinton?). However, if you or your gf did participate in oral sex, then it is slighly possible that you or she might (and I mean might which is not a 'definite') my have contract an STD. But if you and she agree, by defining "sex" as oral, vaginal, or anal the you don't have anything to worry about.

If you have only had sexual contact with eachother it is not necessary but when you have a complete STD screening they test for lots of things. some of which you can get from things other than sexual activity. So why not just be tested? better safe than sorry. you know? hope this helps

I'll admit that I didn't get tested with my guy when we were both virgins.. and we were both clean and fine when I got tested later on just as part of my annual exam. You can have something like HIV of course, or something transferred by blood (getting a tattoo.. cuts in mouth and kissing.. etc) but not any of the STDs.
