View Full Version : buying drugs on the net - is it wise?

I'm new here and would really appreciate some advice. My Mum is still in the fairly early stages, but where we live (UK) doctors don't prescribe drugs like aricept, reminyl, etc at this stage. It's a scandal and there's an ongoing campaign, as I'm sure many reading know. But it is possible to buy these drugs online - and tempting. I know that the official line is 'never buy drugs over the internet' but please will anyone tell me if - living in the real world where people DO do things they shouldn't - they've had experiences good, bad, indifferent, etc. Thanks in advance for any help!

Dewar Marysdaughter,

I would have only one objection - and that is, fakes are out there. You send your money and get a batch of pills that are the same size and shape as Aricept, for example, but are made of sugar. There are no quality controls on internet drugs. Also, there is a reason you must have a prescription - side effects can be so terrible that you need a doctor's help.

Are there any drugs in the UK used for Alzheimer's Disease? I am thinking there must be something, even if a mild tranquilizer, sleeping helps etc. In my opinion neither Ariept nor Namenda had any effect at all in my Mom, except to produce uncontrollable diarrhea.

Have you asked her doctor? Is your Mom in the early stages?

Love,

Martha
