Everyone has been asking me about Christmas shopping, and I have no idea what DS will be into at that point.. I want things that are stimulating, and not just something that beeps and has blinking lights.. He will be 9 months on Christmas. Does anyone have any ideas?

I used to sell toys for an at home party line and toys in that age range were often very sensory (crinkle paper inside for sound, squeeky, rattled, contrasting colours, mirrors, etc.) Toys with mirrors in general are good. Another idea are toys that encourage creeping, pulling to stand and walking like a walk behind toy or some of they play stations that adapt to what motor ability they have.
Anything edible works too LOL!!!
My ds will be 6.5 months at Christmas and is getting an early block building set that is very soft and 'chewable'. It's called Clemmy but I am not sure where it comes from. Mine is left over from the days when I worked for the toy company (Jocus).
Enjoy your shopping!!!

Hey all!

My DS is 11 mos old. Here are the things I got him at 8-9 mos. He didn't play with all of them "as designed" right away, but I enjoyed showing him what they were for and he enjoyed dumping them and exploring them too. Now at 11 mos he knows how to play with them as designed.

1. Large knob wooden puzzle with 4 shapes- make sure it is large and thick with smooth edges.

2. Simple shape sorter with 4 shapes

3. Plastic Nesting cups

4. toy piano

5. Large ball and lots of other balls of various sizes.

6. hammer and balls set

7. A set of wooden blocks that comes in a little wooden wagon ( I took all the smaller blocks out)

8. Tons of board books. We read them every day and now he gets them on his own and turns the pages and looks at them.

Basically he loved anything he can take in and out and dump!! And the other great thing about these toys is that they are pretty inexpensive. Some of them were recommended for babies a few months older than him, so I just made sure that they were safe for him if that was the case. I can't tell you how many hours of enjoyment he has had and still does with these toys.:)
