I have a newer Grand-Am that is now just an extra car sitting around that we are trying to seel right now, but I got an extra cerseat for it so when my Mom wants to take my daughter I don't have to give up my car. In my Mazda 6 there is a metal bar embedded in the crack of the seats for the carseat to hook up, but the Grand-Ams do not have one and my carseat requires this to be attached? What do you do when you have a vehicle that doesn't have that metal acnhor bar?
I am puzzled....it is an extra car we don't drive anyways so I am not really concerned, but what does one do if this was their car they drive, do you have to sell it? What do you do?

My car seat (graco) has the anchor system, but you can also use a seatbelt with it. There's a funny thing in the base that you can use a seatbelt on... Have you read your seat manual to see if it can be used that way?

You have to run the seat belt through the base but to further keep the base and seat from pulling up or having too much leeway, you need to anchor it and the Grand-Ams have no place to anchor a car seat. We do not drive the car, but I am puzzled as to what you are suppose to do if this were your main vehicle?

There is the LATCH system, which from your description is that metal bar between the seat. You would not use a seatbelt with this, you would attach it to the bar only. If the car is older and there is no bar you need to use the seatbelt to install the seat. There are also tethers (the long strap with a hook on the back of the car seat). These are used for forward facing only, with the execption of Britax convertible seats. They approve the tether for rear facing as well.
