Hello Ladies,
I am 43 and having many of the symptoms you all are talking about. I was wondering.....do these come on suddenly? Just in the last week I have started having extreme heart palpatations...and what I think are hot flashes. It is mostly on my head and neck....to the point that I have to remove any necklaces I might be wearing. These hot flashes dont bother me as much as the heart thing. I have had palpatations for a couple of years now, but they usually dont last and are only mild. These are lasting several hours and causing me to stress. I had an "episode" at work last week with my heart beating so strangly that I thought I might need to lay down. I also started my period that very day....which are still regular, but odd. One month overly heavy...and then this month....hardly anything...no cramps...and not a heavy flow. I am worried about myself and as I dont have any insurance I dont want to see a doctor unless things get worse. Any advice would help me?

I take a beta-blocker, but if you don't want to see a doctor, try the Magnesium. It never really helped my palps, but I know some ladies have had good luck with it. It's also good for constipation. If the palps get worse, I would really consider seeing a doctor. It's probably hormone changes, but it's always good to have a check to make sure. Ann

Ditto on taking the magnesium. You might also consider getting completely off caffeine (if you aren't already) including sodas, tea, etc. Try to avoid sugar and refined carbs also. This might help with the heart palps.

Thank you all for helping me with this. I am now over my period and the heart palps have stopped for the last few days. I think or believe I am just beginning on this journey, and I am already ready for it to be over. I just don't know if I can handle all the mood swings....I have always considered myself a strong person.....it must be hard for my husband to see me crying for no reason. I have never been a weepy female.
I am going to make an appointment with a doctor if the palps begin again with the intensity of the past weekend. I cant sit and worry that I am going to die. It takes all my energy.

Hi Kati,
Thanks for the advice about the caffine. Although I had already put together the fact that the more coffee I had the worse my palps were for any given day. I am now being very careful about how much I am consuming. It might be helping, or I might be having just a few good days. I guess time will tell. I find without the caffine, I am soooo tired or wore out at the end of the day. I was reading in some other posts too that other women seem to be having this low energy level as a symptom of Peri. I guess the feeling I have is just one of "blah". I feel like I am coming down with something and I never really get sick. Thanks for the post and for the website in general. I really would be lost without the help.
