What should I expect during this process? I am very concerned about this, Is it much different than a typical CT Scan, well other than a radiologist jamming a needle into you? Are you sedated? Numbed? Anything else I should know...

Thanks Debbie, I know it involves having another CT Scan which allow the radiologist to place the needle into the mass and get some tissue...I am scared to death..

Hasn't your friend's doctor discussed the procedure with him?

I havent actually had one yet but can tell you what I have found out, hope it helps. The CT guided biopsy is where they introduce a small gauge needle into the area and withdraw samples of the cores. They do introduce a local numbing agent to make the patient more comfortable. You can talk to the primary physician to sedate orally prior to the procedure. My doctor gave me a form of xanax to take 20 minutes prior to the procedure. The doctor says I wont care if they put the needle up my nose without numbing after taking it.

Hope all goes well.

This thing is adjacent to my ascending colon, should expect any complications...they are fairly confident they can get in the mass without an issue...CT Guided Biopsy's are pretty successful from what I hear...any thoughts...wtill going crazy..
