Hi all, been reading for a long time but never had much to add until I got back these results.
I started vytorin about 10 weeks ago after trying lipitor, tricor and lopid without much success.
My results from vytorin were:
Total: 136
Trig: 138
Ldl: 65
HDL: 43
Last test after being on tricor were:
Total: 249
Trig: 168
HDL: 43
Ldl: 172
My numbers have never been this low. When I started down this whole road a couple of years ago my tc was 295 and my trig were in the 400's. High fat, high alcohol diet I guess is not the best approach. I'm still not eating the best stuff around but at least blood work wise things are improving.
I've also recently moved to a new state and have been working at home the last 10 weeks which means sitting on my butt all day long behind a computer. I do get some exercise but not as much as I should.
Lately I've been just feeling blah, no energy, kid of blue, lot's of anxiety, can't sleep, no desire to do much of anything...
Could it be vytorin related and if so what could my alternatives be?
Thanks,
Mark

Yes it could be the vytorin. Your cholesterol is too low. You numbers might be improving, but not your health.

The amazing thing is that the VYTORIN lowerd even your triglycerides far better than Tricor, which is supposed to target triglycerides specifically.
Markh,
You could consider snapping the Vytorin in half and lower both your cost and the likelihood of side effects...you don't need control quite that tight unless you have a LOT of plaque deposits and coronary blockages.
What doseage are you taking?

44 years old, On vytorin 10/40.. I may talk to my Dr about cutting my dose in half but I'm sure he'll recommend against it. I was also surpirsed about the trigs being lower. I almost envisioned that I'd have to add something else to target those..

I looked a little bit at the possibility of low cholesterol causing the symptoms that I have and there's a lot of conflicting information.. I guess some more research is in order..
