Okay, So I haven't been with anyone since the end of February. We used protection, but for about 5 seconds we didn't. Which I know there is a small chance of the early sperm....
I got tested just because at 10 days short of what would have been six months. and that did come back negative! but what made me test was my throat was all swollen in the back, it's still not gone all the way. but now, a few days ago I have gotten some level of thrush in the back of my throat. i can't seem to get my tongue the nice pink it use to be and my throat is not the nice smooth pink it should be in the back. I'm wondering what the chances are that my test said negative and i'm really positive? now i'm over six months officially - should i get tested again? but it was pretty much six months when i did get tested. it was a blood drawn test. some places say thrush is a symtom of hiv. some say it's a symtom of the medications of hiv, or people that have developed aids get it. ANY advice would be great. I'm seeing my doctor in five days. I think she's going to think I'm crazy if I want another hiv test! What do you think? Could thrush just be because? I eat healthy, exercise - i'm a active person. it's all out of left field! Thank you all for listening - sorry I write a lot! Hope to hear back soon! ThANK YOU!!

There are tons of people who develop thrush who do not have HIV. WHile many people who are HIV+ develop thrush, there are even more (including myself) who do not. So, put aside your anxiety cape and relax. First, of all I seriously doubt you have oral thrush. One of the symptoms is that oral thrush is extremely painful so much so that you are unable to eat. Is that you?

So, here's the deal: you were tested (probably using the ELISA test) and you tested negative. ARe you going to spend the rest of your life everytime you sneeze because you think you had a false-nagative?

Thank you for your reply. the trush isn't super sore, but it's pretty noticable where it was never there before. but i do feel it somewhat. i get this random burning sensation in the back of my throat that's been there for about a week. so i'll just go to the doctor to see what she has to say. i was so happy and thankful finding out i was negative - and then just this happened so it freaked me out again. thanks for listening... :)

Hi there, well yeah Chris is right.......the presence or absence of thrush or any other symptom is not the way to evaluate HIV.......it's only proper testing after a window period of 13 weeks..........you look to have conclusively tested negative..........for any other problems meet ur doc!!!!!
all the best!

Thank you! I think i figured something else out, when i had coffee with regular milk - the white instantly came on my tongue. And same when I drank Keifer from regular milk. Though for the past 6 or so years I've always drank rice or soy milk. But for sure, the white coating on my tongue gets a lot more appearance when I have dairly. weird. but i'll go to my doctor to check it out still. I was glad to read your 5 and a half month results came back negative as well! Take care!
