Hey everyone, I'm new to this board, so here goes...
Over the last 2 years or so, I've put on a lot of weight. I injured my ankle and I've had ongoing issues with it ever since. As a result, I can't really exercise much without it causing me a lot of pain. I found myself staying in the house a lot, I got bored, and I'd eat sometimes just for the hell of it.
No exercise + binge eating = tubby Maria! Lol
I've had enough of feeling miserable and ugly, so I'm going to do something about it. I want to lose three stones (42lbs) But I'm going to break that target down into 3 stages, so I'm aiming to lose a stone at a time, which I'm hoping will make it easier.
My real weakness is chocolate, I can just never get enough of it. I've always had a sweet tooth but it seems to have increased with age, lol. I don't like fad diets, I'm not going to cut chocolate out entirely, because anything is fine in moderation. I'm just going to limit myself to a couple of chocolate biscuits a week or something. I'm drinking plenty of water and I already get quite a lot of fruit and veg, so I'm okay on that front...
Oh man, there's a chocolate and rasberry muffin in the kitchen that has my name on it, and it's killing me to have to leave it, lol.
Anyway, other than feeling a little down about my appearence, I'm still a very healthy person. I guess I just wanted to write about my efforts, I think it will help me to do so, even if nobody bothers to read it, lol.
Well, I'm going to go for a walk!
Take care.

I read your post. I too need to lose weight but for medical reasons, not just for appearance sake. My goal is 50lbs.

Try tootsie rolls! Also, yoplait now makes this chocolate yogurt. There's really nothing out there that you can't find a low fat, low sugar version of. Slim Fast makes meal bars and shakes that are chocolate, for example.

I'm totally there with you. Eat what you want in moderation. I have the same mission as you but I have alot more weight to lose than you I need to lose a minimum of 75 lbs but i'd really like to lose 100lbs. I've already lost 27lbs even though it took me a while. But hey, as long as i'm not gaining.

Hi Maria,
Good luck with your weight loss goals.
I'm right there with you about chocolate LOL I think that's why most women get fat. Men who are fat seem to be more omnivorous LOL They will consume mass quantities of regular food too but I am always amazed when any woman who's fat says she doesn't like chocolate. Chocolate has the caloric advantage of packing tons of calories into small amounts so you can really pack on the pounds.
The only solution I have come to dealing with high fat chocolate is to avoid it although I will drink a chocolate soy protein shake or sugar free fudgsicle. I also will occasionally have a chocolate pudding cup which is 120 calories. I wish I could manage to enjoy a small amount of chocolate but I don't want to trigger a chocolate binge. More power to you if you can have your cake and eat it too LOL
I think going slow is really the best approach to weight loss for most people because then you can actually eat food and remain healthy. You don't throw your body into starvation mode setting off endless food cravings. Another reason to go slow that works for me is that if I am going slow it's going to take me much longer to achieve my goal which means that for that time I am eating healthy, exercising etc.. I'd probably be better off never achieving the goal LOL and just always be a few pounds away. Maintenance has never been a strong suit of mine. Good Luck.
