Does anyone have any experience with these. I am having open ankle surgery on Friday and will NWB for 6 weeks. Is this worth renting?
Thanks,
Susan

Thanks, Susan eko 09-25-2006, 12:54 PM Hey Susan, I had one and I loved it, but it all depends what you are trying to achieve. It you are gracefull on crutches and can get around on them, then you don't need it. If you are like me, crutch challenged, going to work, and want more freedom than a wheel chair, then absolutely, it is something to consider. It does not solve the issue of stairs. It all depends on the goal. ~Ellen SusanJ 09-25-2006, 03:58 PM How does it work getting in and out of a car? beckyn 09-25-2006, 08:27 PM I've got one rented right now and I love it. I just can't walk on crutches and not much better with a walker so this has been ideal for me. I have only used it in and around the house. I've used my walker to get to and from the car. It's only been 1.5 weeks so I am not back to work. I'm not quite confident enough to use the roll-about at work so am planning to use a wheelchair. I had a hard time finding a roll-about in town (Green Bay). The only medical supply store I found to rent from was not in my medical plan to I had to pay for it myself. It has been well worth the $60 monthly rental fee. Good luck with your surgery and let me know if you have any other questions. Becky eko 09-26-2006, 08:00 AM Getting in and out of a car depends on how good you are on manuvering on one foot. I have a minivan, so I would put mine in the seat behind me and then while hanging on the van hop to the front seat. With the sliding doors it was fairly easy. Go out and try an experiment, just remember it will be harder after surgery with a cast on. ~eko |
