Hello Eveyone....I needed to post this question because I need a answer quickly....I had a 3 month sexual relationship with someone and we had unprotected sex for the whole 3 months.....The relationship started in March and ended in June. I got tested for HIV in May(2 months after) which turned out to be Negative but I wasn't happy with those results because I thought it was too early to test so I got tested again in August( 3 months after the initial testing and 2 months after the last incident). Those results came back Negative to...But for some odd reason I feel that I need to go get tested again...My doctor said that I was fine and that there was no need to get retested....But I think that I should....Could someone please write back and tell me what you think....Do you think that I should retest...I don't have any symtoms or anything...I just need to know.

Hey,

If you feel like you need to get tested again, then you should be, and your doctor shouldn't stop you. It is possible for people to go for 6 months, and in some rare cases, even an entire year before they start to show antibodies to the virus.

The chances are that you're fine, and your negative results are probably correct. If it's on your mind this much, and you want to get tested again at 6 months for peace of mind, then you should go for it, and explain your concerns to the doctor.

Oh, and it doesn't really matter that you have no symptoms, the majority of people with HIV don't ever get any symptoms.

Try not to drive yourself crazy over this, you've tested negative at 3 months, and that's still very reliable.

Take it easy.
