Do you want to go to Cleveland? I'd call the Browns or the Cavaliers front office and see who they use for foot problems. Whoever it is will be good.

At this point I will go anywhere. Im in so much pain and cant live like this anymore. The PT is not helping. The ultrasound didnt work and yesterday they did a shock wave. She said I would feel some relief if it worked. And I felt nothing. Something is really wrong. Who would I call for the Browns foot specialist. What would it be under in the phone book? THANKS for all your help.

Lisa,
I found my doc by looking at the Chicago White Sox website (among others). It seems most of the team websites have a "front office" link or pull-down menu, and they usually have medical staff listed there, toward the end. I preferred to look online as I don't really like using the phone, but I imagine you could just call the administrative office and ask.

Good luck!

Exactly. Just call their offices and ask who they use. The websites don't always list the specialties, just that they use this or that doctor or group. In other words, it may list several orthos but not the ones who do joints or knees or feet.

I called cleveland clinic and the lady was so so rude. She said why would you want a Dr that handles the football players? Do you have a sports related injury? I said NO but I am sure the Drs are the best and thats what I want right now. she was so rude to me. And I will NOT be going there now. I called the crystal clinic today and they said I would need my operation records and X rays. And the Drs there would read them and see if they would evenn see me. I think what it is is that they dont want to get involved since another Dr did my surgery. I dont know. Im truly frustrated and so upset. Its been 3 months and Im worse than a month ago. Today I wore my post op shoe that doenst let me bend my big toe at all. Its still swelled but I didnt have the pain as bad today. My scar is very painful today since I have a keloid incision. If its not one thing its another. :(
Thanks for all your help

OMH, Lisa, how nasty! It makes perfect sense to me that one would want to see the doctor for a major sports team, even w/o a sports injury. Whatever their specialty, they would have to be good to make it to that level (or at least I hope so). So sorry she was mean. I could understand if you were calling a sports psychologist or something, someone who ONLY works with athletes - that would be odd. But a pod or ortho?? (not sure which you're looking for) They deal with many kinds of foot/ankle injuries and disorders. I just don't get it. Sigh. I wish I could recommend someone in your area. Maybe someone else here can.
Good luck.

THANKS Holly. I totally undertstand what you mean. This lady was totally out of line and so rude. All I asked for was a good foot specialist. I dont care at this point if its a ortho or pod. I just want to be fixed. Im in so much pain daily. I hurt just sitting. I dont know whats going on. Im going back tomorow to the Dr that did my surgery. I guess my orthodics are done now. I dont know what hes going to want to do now. Hes always quick to stick a needle down in my foot and inject steroids. OUCH. I dont know what to do. I have PT tomorrow also. And they are about to discharge me because I cant do the exercies. It causes to much pain. The ultrasound didnt help and the shock wave I had yesterday did nothing either. Today I wore my post op shoe and it helps keep that big toe straight. It doesnt move much with it on. It feels so much better when it stays in place. What I think happened is arthritis is so bad in there and Im bone on bone, and when I walk it rubs the bone and causes pain. And the swelling also. But who knows Im not a Dr. But I do know what I feel. Im in horrible pain all day long. And I cant just sit all day. I have 3 little ones. THANKS for your help and I will keep you guys posted.

Lisa: Call the football team or the basketball team (preferably the Cavaliers) and not the Cleveland Clinic. The team may not even use someone there.
Both types of athletes have foot problems...but the basketball players especially. Shaquille O'Neal had a cheilectomy while her was with the Lakers in '02. Just find out who the team uses and call him/her. Let us know how it works out.
