Stress is my biggest factor, but I see a pattern in the last two years< I had major flares in April and Sept. they last at least a month, last year Sept. and the whole month of Oct. So the weather? (Spring & Fall)?

I'm so afraid of taking medication now, this past April I took a drug had a bad reaction and ended up spending 2 days in the hospital.
I feel so bad right now, I can hardly get out of bed!

i notice every year, right when fall starts....i get really really bad problems with my joints. Mainly shoulders and knees. It feels raw, and they pop alot and get really week. I try doing my physical therapy excersises. I had to have surgury on one knee and one shoulder. They still get raw. I then notice once spring and summer come they feel better....Does this sound like fibro? I always just thought maybe i had week joints or soemthing.

I wish I knew what triggered mine. Pushing myself too hard physically would be my first guess.

i'm still trying to find out if i have fibromyalgia - i'm going in for an MRI of my back. if that comes back ok, then i'm going to consider it FM as all my other tests have been fine, except for my slightly elevated sed rate.

anyway, what seems to be triggering my pains right now is my menstrual cycle. as soon as i get AF, i am in pain and it lasts about a week.

has anyone else experienced this? do hormones affect fibromyalgia?

my doctor looked at me blankly when i told her that today.

Winter time and the lack of sunshine brings the bad times. As soon as March comes, I am so much better until November again.

Also, the lack of sleep for a long period of time will start a flare.

You know you're not nuts when you read this thread. I have all the same flare up times, stress, cold, over doing it.

The last three weeks I have been doing about 5 mins of yoga stretches and walking for 30-40 mins and I sleep better. I haven't taken Tylenol PM at all for two weeks and I used to take it nightly. The stretching is so key. I love it and I feel better doing it, but the walking is what helps me sleep.

Actually, for me it's all of those. Stress (poor coping skills I think), Barometric Pressure changes (going into ER tomorrow I am so bad), I'm in Chicago, so oh boy my joints are poppin everywhere, even in my chest. Weirdness.
Also a week B4 my Menstural Cycle and 3 days after that are unbearable. And also Depression.
It's cool too see everyone elses. Be well!

the mad katter -- I have the same pain before my menstrual and a few days in. That is also a symptom of endometriosis. I'm pretty sure I have one or the other. The OB-GYN just put me on the pill for the pain, so we'll see if that helps, it's probably endo. (P.S. -- I'm 35 and have 2 kids and don't need the pill, so it's kind of weird!).
