View Full Version : In need of a new perfume!!!!

krs2086

I am on the look for a new perfume and was wondering if anyone knew of anything that would be good to try, I kind of want something that is very clean smelling, like a just got out of the shower kind of smell that will stick with me through the day.

I was wanting to try Amazing Grace by Philodophy but while on a website a couple of nights ago I read a lot of people didn't like the smell and it went away after only a few hours. Which kind of popped my bubble about the deal.

Any infomation would be a great help!!!!

I smelled Amazing Grace in a Sephora catalog and wanted to try it out as well, but I haven't bothered picking it up after also reading online reviews. But I wear Heart by Clinique- it's a clean/fresh, yet appealing scent. Also Happy by Clinique or Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana.

I like the smell of Amazing Grace but I can't say anything about the perfume, I only have the shower gel and conditioner and lotion. If you like the scent try it out though!

I loved their shower gel but have not tried the spray. I love Light Blue by Dolce & Gabbana! It's the best! Kc

I use Body by Victorias Secret. I love it! It lasts on me all day and doesn't have a heavy scent. Occasionally, I like to change it up and use Percieve by Avon.. But my favorite is hands down Body!

By the way, I read somewhere (and have personally noticed) it helps ALOT if you use the soap, and lotion, of the same scent before you spritz. Seems to make it last ALOT longer than just a squirt here or there.

Both Amazing Grace and Light Blue are amazing scents that stay with you all day and night.
My favorite though, is Green Tea by Elisabeth Arden. It's much softer and quieter, more subtle, then the above. It's very clean but very light. And I agree with the other posters, layering your fragrance in shower gel, then body lotion and finally fragrance will increase it's staying power.

I'd say that D&G Light Blue and Heavenly Dream Angel are my favorites. I once tried that Green Tea and it smelled horrendous on my skin...I suppose with anyone...try before you buy or at least know that you can return it before you buy it. I personally like a light clean smell.

I have to go with what one of the other posters said I absolutely love happy by clinique.....I hate strong over powering perfumes and love the ones that smell clean and fresh as the person that started this thread said that give you that fresh out of the shower scent..The main one I have found that does this for me is the Happy by clinique....happy heart is good by clinique also though I only wear it when I want something with a little more oomph than the plain Happy gives me.

Hi keepsgoin,
I'm so sorry you had a bad experience with the Green Tea. It smells sooooo good on me, I could just bath in it. And I do! :jester:
But, you are right, each of us have our own body chemistry and what smells great on one of us, smells awful on another. The great thing is that there is a great smell out there for all of us. It's just a matter of trying until you find one you love. The original poster might want to ask for samples whenever possible.

Two of my favorites are Burberry Brit (clear bottle with white plaid stripes) and Victoria's Secret Body Spray in "heavenly". Both are light scents that last all day long.

I do also love the D&G Light Blue, but I've found that sometimes it's overpowering in the warmer weather.

I also like the Heavenly perfume, but I usually like something a little lighter. I LOVE Curious by Britney Spears perfume and it isn't too strong. Most of the other scents I wear are sweet or fruit scented so those probably aren't what you are looking for. I get headaches easily from perfumes so I have to stick to something light or sweet. I remember when I was younger wearing Tommy Girl and it would give me horrible headaches. I would suggest trying to get mini samples of different perfumes to try out. Make sure you test them on yourself for SURE b/c some will smell different in the bottle or on somebody else. Sephora is a great place to try them out! Or a department store.

I have been wearing Paul Sebastians, Casual for several years and never have had more compliments then when I wear this....my daughters teen friends, co=workers, my mom, the lady checking me out at the store commented. It's light, but a wonderful scent. I LOVE  IT>>

Hmm, looks like I will probably try the D&G Light Blue, anyways some clean ones I have are of course the VS Heavenly, then theres Perry Ellis "360" which my sister in law describes her "clean" compliments with that one, I also love the Clinique "Happy" which I dont have yet but my when my grandma wears it I always ask her what shes wearing...also my favorite "Miracle" by Lancome which kinda reminds me of the new "Just me" by Paris Hilton which I think they are kind of the same, but I didnt like the 1st P/H one. Oh yeah and I just got Escada "Sentiment" from my sisters in law and they are perfume addicts and this is their current favorite says my husband.

there is a perfume that is excellent and it is actually called "CLEAN" there are several different kinds but they all have the same kind of sent. there all made to smell like sents from your shower, some smell like soap and some smell like water or body wash. the fragrence sticks with you literally untill you wash it off. i wear it every day and i only apply a little bit in the morning and i get compliments through out the whole day about how wonderful it smells. [removed] it's the original clean it is 76$ per bottle but will last months. you can also get the set thats 80$ for the purfume and the body lotion. they both smell fantastic..
I hope you get it.

I am looking for a more "sensual" perfume this winter as opposed to the fruity, more flowery scents I usually wear. Has anyone smelled "Hot" by Ralph Lauren? It smells so good! And also Fantasy from Britney Spears is nice. Any other suggestions?

A woman in my building sells Mary Kay, and convinced me to try Affection. It's fantastic! I love it. I think it's pricey for something like that (it's $50), but I bought it in an online auction for $20. shhhhh..... :)

Amazing Grace and/or Pure Grace- I like spraying a little of each. I get compliments hours after I put them on.
Falling in Love for going out at night.

Doubt I will ever wear anything else after wearing the above-- everytime I smell perfumes in stores now--yuck- that alcohol smell mmakes me cough or sneeze.
I finally found my signatures fragrance(s).
Even my Dad always says I smell so good- he never, ever complimented or noticed a fragrance on me over my past 50+ years.

Go for the Grace...;)

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention....Abercrombie 8 is also a great scent. That's my scent that I wear to work and other times when I'm not really all that dressed up. Many people have complimented me on it. If you are looking for a light scent that isn't fruity I definitely suggest this one!

I use Dior Pure Poison... It's really nice... But whats all this business with layering scents????? How??? Why??? HOW!?!? Do you use the same brand? doesnt that make it overpowering? or if you use different scents, dont they all clash?

So confused... any info regarding this bemusing secret... please?

I'm allergic to most perfumes but have been searching forever to find a scent that I can wear that I really love. I used to wear Tribu by Bennington but that has since been discontinued. I do wear Light Blue by D&C, but I can't say I love it, althou I've gotten compliments on it.

But I'm so happy to say that I found a perfume that I totally LOVE and so far can wear without any side effects (usually severe migraine and my throat gets swollen). Its called Hanae Mori (box with pink butterfly).

Its a light, kind of fresh, sandlewood, flower type scent with a creamy undertone (makes me want to lick my wrist lol)

I love Estee Lauder's Cinnabar (very heavy oriental scent) and Pleasures but cannot wear Estee perfumes at all. The Victoria Secret body sprays do not last and on me end up smelling like cheap perfume (I should be happy they don't last!!)

A lot of girls at my school wear the Victoria's Secret Body Sprays and they DO end up smelling cheap. I DO like the scents but not how they tend to smell in the body spray form.

Hmmm...I'm no expert on beauty products, but I'll share my thought. As far as I can tell, 95 percent of all perfumes smell almost exactly the same. One particular kind I use has a distinct smell and is unlike 'typical' ones. I don't know if you'd consider it fresh-out-of-the-shower perfume, but I've found it to be a wonderful scent.

The perfume is called Hypnotic Poison, and it smells in no way like the perfume Poison. I don't know if this has been mentioned already because I was, admittedly, too lazy to read ten pages of replies. If it's already been said, then I second (third, fourth, etc.) whoever suggested it.

My favorite perfumes ranked in order, try a few at your favorite department store and let the perfume cool down for at twenty minutes after applying it on your skin. This will let you know what the perfume actually smells like once it had adjusted with your body chemisty.

1. Chance-Channel

2. Romance-Ralph Lauren

3. Pleasures-Estee Lauder

4. Tuscany-Estee Lauder

5. Cool Water-Woman

6. Very Sexy-Victoria's Secret
