I am so thankful to have run across this site. It has been more helpful to me than months of appts! So I thought I would just give a short intro while lurking around here. I am 30, diagnoised about a year ago although looking back I think this has been a problem with me for many many years. I am currently on 120 mg of geodon a day and just started Lamictal yesterday. 25 mg to start working up to 100 mg in 5 weeks. I just came off a HUGE down and I am wondering if the meds are doing there job or if I am just on an upswing. I really miss dreaming, but enjoy the fact I can sleep. lol I am so grateful that there are so many people here willing to share their stories as it is a HUGE relief to realize I am not the only person out there going through this. I am swithching therapist as my current one seems to only want to focus on my inability to ride in a car...which I feel is a minor problem in contrast to the rest of it! ANyway, I have babbled enough, just wanted to tell you all how much I appreciate you!

Hi:wave: Just wanted to welcome you to a great place where people have so much to offer you in terms of knowledge and support.
I am one of the non-Bipolars who has picked up an enormous amount of support here for my daughter who has recently been diagnosed.
So just wanted to welcome you and I know that you will find exactly what you need here!! The people are wonderful and the support is out of this world.
My daughter is on Lamictal so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

I just wanted to second what Goody said. This board is helpful for those with BPD and those of us that love them. My son is almost 25 and was diagnosed his junior year of college. Like you, he suspected he was bi polar while in high school but didn't seek help and was able to hide it from us. After several attempts with other pdocs who only made things worse, in my opinion, he found someone who knew lots about pharmacology and was able to come up with the right "cocktail" of meds for him. He has been stable now for a year and a half. He's on lithium, lamictal and one other, the name of which I can't remember. He's doing so well that he will be able to go down to just one med in the months ahead.
I encourage you to keep switching doctors until you find the one that is right for you. That is not an easy task as so many seem to have little or no understanding of the disease.
Welcome! Hopefully you will learn a lot from reading about others' experiences. Tsohl.

Welcome Raven Rain
Yes it's a wonderful board. Just want to say Hi, I've been bipolar since
86, dianosed in 93, hospitalized twice. Ive been on many meds, but for
the most part lithium. My daughter, 22, is also bipolar and fianlly found
tegretol worked for her. Enjoy! K

It is good to see you have found this bb. Welcome! :)
The riding in the car also effects me as well. Anxiety and agoraphobia, does that ring a bell? More like- nausea and 'get me out of this car right now!' LOL
Hope your tdoc and pdoc can get your meds regulated so you feel better soon. I was dx'd around the age of 32 and now I'm 36.

Hi R.R. Looks like you are using the site effectively. If you happen to come across info relating to my ex-partner (who I would like to help), it would be appreciated.
She is rigidly in denial, has delusions of my having affairs with assorted women, never wrong, I am the culprit, has strong spiritual experiences with a 'messenger', sometimes gets into a trance like state [glassy eyed, fearless & stilted in her walking].
Can't get her to accepted that she needs help, & can not live with the continuous negativity, but would like to find a parallel, or direction, to possibly assist her.
Any info appreciated. Good to see you getting benefit.:)

To Rr And All .
I Am Mslainie. My Son Is Bp And My Ex Untreated. And My Daughter Is Adhd But At 13 I Am Wondering Something More?? We Will See.
I Was Always The Parent Looking For Any Bp Insite However I Just Had A Complete Hysterectomy In May And I Am A Changed Person A Bit. I Am 41 And Never Had The Following: Panic Attacks, Hot Wets, insomnia For Days, I Forget, I Am Scared Of I Dont Know, I Am Moody Ect.... My Bp Son Said Welcome To My World. Wow It Sucks.
I Talk To Women In My Shoes But Guess What They Are Mostly In Denial And Dont Talk About It. I Got You Will Get Over It. Now I Do Understand How My Son Feels. I Get Nervous Driving?? I Never Did Before.. It Is Weird.
So My Point This Board Is Honest. No Matter Bp Or Not.
My Son By Way Is Ok With Bp, 1250mg Depakote And 10mg Abilify. It Took Lots Of Combo's Of Meds And Changing Docs More Than Once.
So As Always Thanks For Listening.
