Ok so I just started taking BC (Yaz) for the first time just over a week ago and have been on it for about 10 days. Over the weekend I started spiking a fever at night when I sleep and have been doing so every night this week. Also my glands on my right side are swollen. Other than that though I have no other cold symptoms. No sore throat and no runny nose or congestion.
I started taking a antibiotic on Tuesday and so far there hasn't been an improvement. Only now i feel like i'm dehydrated.
I know its a long shot and not a typical side effect but could it be reaction to the BC??

hey i know its scary to post something and have no one answer so im going to give you my opinion on this matter. i dont think that your symptoms are due to the birth control. however, it does sound like your body is fighting something. you could just have a cold/flu. if i were you, i woudl stop taking the birth control, wait until you get better and then try it again. if the same thing happens then you know it's the birth control. im having problems with my vision right now and the only thing i can think that is causing it is the bc im on. im going to stop taking it and give it a few months to clear up. with your fevers though, if you stop taking the bc now, in a couple days/one week if it is the bc causing it, i would think you would feel a whole lot better. the doctor that gave you the antibiotic, what did he/she think it was? ive never heard bc doing this but i do know that it can affect people differently. try to stay calm, i know i would be freaking out too but if you remain calm you'll feel better. stress will only make you more anxious. im sorry this is happening to you. doctors perscribe us these pills to "fix" our problems but they arent the ones who have to go through the side effects. it can be really scary when you feel like your body is out of control and you dont know what is happening. i hope you feel better soon.

Thanks!! I just think I am really stressed out about this and not happy at all. Talked with my primary doctors today and they were concerned I'm still running a fever at night and changed my prescription and increased my dose. I actually went to see him earlier this week and he thought it was an upper respitory infection. However I never mentioned I started taking BC (yes I'm a bad patient) but honestly it never occured to me that this could be an issue til later in the week.
I thought about not taking my pill today. I mean with all the antibiotics I'm on, its not doing much but I also would like to adjust to taking it as well. I also wasn't sure if there would be any negative effects if I stopped taking it all of the sudden as well. But I think I'll just call my OB/GYN's office tomorrow and see what they think.
