Hi there,

A couple days ago, I noticed a huge red spot in the white area of my eye. After researching a bit, I'm convinced it's one of these subconjunctival hemorrhages.
I am just getting over bronchitis, so I assume it's from those lovely coughing fits!
My problem is, I'm in a wedding this weekend and it seems to have spread to almost half of my eye, and is completely horrible looking.
Is there ANY possible treatments I can use to relieve some of the redness? I understand it may only be temporary... Can I use Visine or something along those lines to help it? If so, is there an repercussion for doing so?

Thanks in advance!!!

I would just try to use the Visine for redness. I've gotten that before and I find the Visine works well, although during the wedding you may need to use it several times to keep the redness down, assuming that it hasn't cleared by then. You probably only need to get it checked out if you start having discomfort in the eye or any other symptoms since that could mean you need prescription eye drops. I have had a condition where my eye got red and needed steroid drops for it to heal.

If it's a true subconjunctival hemorrhage, Visine won't do much of anything. The Visine will constrict the blood vessels, but there's a pool of blood under the conjunctiva that won't be affected by Visine. Also, don't use Visine for anything. It causes terrible rebound effects. If you need to, get some good artificial tears and use as needed.
