Excess salt causes fluid retension which increases BP.
Look up the DASH diet. Easy to do and helps control hypertension.

For me eating a slice of pizza raises my blood pressure because I'm salt sensitive. If I eat pizza then the medication will not bring my blood pressure down because I'm not on a diuretic.
Thanks,
Michael

I swear they put msg in pizza. Ot it is incredibly high in sodium. It is one food that REALLY bothers me and hard to give up. It has fianlly gotten so bad that I really don't eat it at all. I will have palpitations afterwards and be so swollen the next morning.

Uff-Da!

If you will do a web search for the amount of sodium in pizza, you will find that just two slices will deliver about a full day's worth of sodium. Not a good thing if you happen to be a sodium-sensitive hypertensive!
