Good luck w/your scope tomorrow. The doctor will insert a tube into your anus that has a camera on it. He will also put some air in there...don't be afraid to pass it out if you can. You will feel some cramping - like you are going to have a BM, but you won't. Try to use relaxing breathing.

Please remind me, why are you having this? Have you had a colonoscopy?

Good luck to you,
Cats

Hi Cats

I am having this because about 12 months ago I had anal bleeding after a bowel motion. This went away until about 3 months ago when I had two episodes of light bleeding after a motion. My doc gave me something for piles and I didn't use them as it had stopped, then about a week later I went for a number two and it hurt a little and when I wipped there was loads of blood, bright red and like a period. When I looked in the loo there was a lot of blood, so my doctor has sent me for this. The bleeding continued for a week, but was a light watered down colour only on the first wipe.

I am a 30 year old female, who worksout a lot, although just lately I felt like I can't, however this could be due to my crippling anxiety about dying. I am also going for a pelvic ultrasound as my periods have been very heavy for the last 5 months and I have had a brown sluge like discharge before and after my period. My doc did an internal and said it felt a little strange (my womb) and wanted to get my lining checked out.

I am so stressed, in March I had a chest infection and went to see a doc which wasn't my normal one and she said I had HIV as I looked ill. I stressed for 3 weeks and then had the test and thankgod it was negative, however I feel like I won't be so lucky this time. This is the same doc how has sent me for the pelvic ultrasound and she has wrote to me asking me to go and see her in two weeks, even though I havn't even had my appointment through for the ultrasound. I live in the UK and you are lucky to see your own GP and this doctor who said I had HIV and sent me for the pelvic ultra is really feeding my anxiety and I hope that is what it is anxiety.

Thanks for your reply it is much appriciated.

thanks

Melly

Melly,

I understand your anxiety, but try to keep your hopes up. There are many reasons for this that have nothing to do with cancer. If it IS cancer, then just know that there are great treatments out there now...there are MANY survivors on this board who can attest to that. I am 33 and am a one year survivor of rectal cancer.

Please keep us posted. Sending lots of good thoughts your way.

By the way, have they suggested doing a CT scan of your pelvis and abdomen? Or a colonoscopy? When I was diagnosed I had a sigmoidoscopy, where they found the tumor, so the procedure was stopped and I had to have a colonoscopy a few days later. Might be worth asking to go straight to the colonoscopy...not sure how things go in the UK.

Good luck,
Cats

Hi all

Thanks for your support.

I have just got home fromt he hospital and it was a very stressful morning.

Anyway they did the procedure and banded 3 large piles, however they couldn't get all the way up as it was too painful for me, so I am going back in a month for a barum exray. But they said not to worry, they are just checking as my bowel looked fine.

Thank you again all of you wonderful strong people on here, you have helpped me hugely.

Love

Melly xx
