I have been having symptoms of peri for around a year now but the latest one (for the last 3 months) has been bloating. My stomach becomes really bloated by the end of the day and feels about to burst. Its not so bad first thing in the morning. It seems to be worse from around day 13 onwards until my period. I also get some cramping with it from time to time.

Has anyone else experienced this and can they describe how it feels to them. I also get swollen breasts at the same time although this varies from month to month. I wondered if oestrogen dominance could be causing it?

the biggest pain is wearing trousers with a zip. By the end of the day I feel like about to pop!!! Stretch waistline garments rule right now!!

thanks very much

I too have suffered from bloating. Years ago it was due to the
Calcium supplement I was taking. Later it is from perimenopause. I got the book by Ann Gittleman -Taking Charge of your perimenopause. I can't remember what she listed to alleviate it, but it worked. Since I can't remember I will just list what I take.

Multivitamin
Magnesium
B-6
2 Tablespoons ground flaxseed (for Omega 3 & 6)

Whatever is in the Magnesium, B-6 or Flaxseed has helped me immensely.

You may want to check out the book from the library.

My doctor advised me to take a probiotic for bloating. I think that it promotes the healthy bacteria in your intestine. Also, I drink alot of water to flush out my system.
The magnsesium doesn't really help with my bloating, but it is really helping my insomnia.
