View Full Version : Questions about Fibromyalgia?

Hi,
I have some questions about fibromyalgia. Well lets start out by saying I have RSD in my hand and wrist, for now almost 4 years. About a year ago I had a spinal cord stimulator implanted for pain. But since then I have had pain in my joints and muscles mostly upper. I thought it was only from the operation, lamanectory(sp?) to implant it in my spine, but the pain never went away. I go to a pain center and the neurogolist said it was healing it will take time, so I just suffered with it. So to make a long story short. I went to my PC doctor last week who also treats my RSD and she is very concerned about my neck and shoulders and collar bone pain, shoulder pain, elbow pain. So she sent me for blood test..I guess she is looking for infection. So here I am waiting for the results. I was reading about fibromyaglia and I was reading about my pain. All the pressure points and that is exactly where my pain is. I felt like a was reading about myself. I guess my questions is should I mention this to my PC doctor whe she calls with test results? I was also wondering about treatment for this..I take already for my RSD...Ultram, Trazadone, Lyrica, that seems to be medications that Fibromyalgia patients take in my readings. I guess I am asking for any infomation you can give me before I approach my doctor with this.. Does this sound like fibromyalgia? All the help I get will be appreciated. Thanks.

Dear Angel:

It could be you are dealing with fibromyalgia. It often flares up after injury to the body. I would definitely mention it to your physician. I had to do the same thing since my rheumatologist kept treating me for arthritis. Once he diagnosed the correct condition, I was able to find the right treatment. Not all doctors are up-to-date on fibromyalgia. See a rheumatologist, if you have not yet done so.

Blessings,
Kirstee
