Hi,
I have a technical question...does anyone know the reason why vision goes blurry for 30 seconds or so if you press on your eyes when closed ( i.e. putting arm over eye when you have a headache when lying down, or pressing on eyes when strained, etc.) I just wonder the mechanics of what happens that makes vision blurry.
Also, what reasons in general cause temporary blurred vision for under a minute.
Thanks, and sorry for such an odd question...just curious!

My guess is that the pressure on the eye causes a temporary reshaping of your cornea.

My guess is that the pressure on the eye causes a temporary reshaping of your cornea.

Or possibly, even reshaping the entire globe of the eye. ( such as causing it to elongate and become mommentarily myopic -nearsighted ).

Glad to have your great "insight" back on this forum, squatchimo.

I agree. People who are slightly myopic can make their vision clearer by pressing on different areas of the eyeball.
KSC also wanted to know what causes temporary blurriness without pressing on the eyes, I believe.

That could be loads of things. Dry eye, change in blood pressure, certain diseases, age (lens doesn't focus as quickly), to name a few.
