Hi. I'm really sorry to post yet again but I really don't know what to do now. Aparently my body has gone into starvation mode which I never even knew could happen until a few days ago when CloudyDaze told me about it. Now I'm really scared I'm going to gain all that weight back and I just don't think I'm ready too. Last night I was talking about dieting with one of my friends and she and I decided to go and get some diet pills from the pharmacy on Monday. Anyway, I just wanted to know if diet pills were a good idea because I know a lot of people here say they are not, but if they're so bad and don't work then why are there so many around? - Ashlee

Ashlee, the diet pills are supposed to work for people who are on diets who NEED to be on diets. They are not made for starving bodies who want to lose more weight. Sweetie, please don't do that. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif

Slowly up your calories and you won't have weight gain, you might actually start to lose weight again once you get up to a certain point and your metabolism speeds back up.

You can't go on with 600 calories forever. One, you won't ever have much energy and two, although your calorie needs have lowered your nutrition needs haven't, so your body won't be able to maintain function on so few nutrients (and a multivitamin won't do it because many nutrients have to be taken with food to be effective).

You will start to lose muscle if you arn't careful to up your calories soon, which will only decrease your metabolism even more. As for diet pills, they arn't a good idea. They can cause severe side effects especially for those with eating disorders who have weak hearts (caused by the ED).

Oh, and don't be sorry for posting, we LIKE people to post! We care about you and want everyone here, and want everyone to get well from this prison we are in. Make a change right now and go eat something that is 100 calories to start upping your cals each day!

Thankyou so much Rad916 and CloudyDaze.
I just really don't think I can get myself to eat anymore then part of my dinner a day yet though because I always have that voice inside my head telling me, 'if you eat this you're going to get fat'. Now it seems as though if I don't eat something I will stuff up my metabolism and get fat anyway. There arn't many options and neither of them seem to be very good ones for me but I am trying.
I have one more question. If I exercise even more often then wont that just speed up my metabolism by itself? Sorry for all the dumb questions but I guess I don't really understand this very well.
