I have not seen a post from Mary for some time...maybe I have missed it but wondering how your treatment is going Mary? I hope you are tolerating it well. I have just finished my second cycle of rituxan, fludarabine and cytoxan and am in my usual yucky phase feeling quite sick and probably will for a few days. I am slightly better when I am actually eating something...which means I eat nearly all the time! I hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Allison,
I was wondering about Mary the other day.
My Dr. is addding CHOP to my rituxan treatment. Even though my bloodwork is looking better, I guess he knows best. The only thing that bothers me is that the nurses told me yesterday. That I will be started on Monday, I am even okay with that. I wish my doctor would have told me. Is this common?
So now I go once every 3 weeks for 4 treatments. So maybe that will be it for awhile.
The only thing that bothers me is the losing of the hair. And the reason I am bother about that it makes me feel so vain to worry about something so stupid , IT is only hair it will come back. But I called my cousin who is a breast cancer survior and she put in my place real quick. So today is better.
How are you feeling? At least eating keep the nausea away. How is your energy level. And how treatment more do you have to do?
Take care

Hi Becky, I guess we have to trust our oncologists on treatment plans for us! I had asked mine if I could have done just the Rituxan but he did not recommend it. I guess it is all a matter of opinion. Don't worry too much about losing your hair, though on my treatment mine will only thin a bit. That would not really worry me though. I have seen so many people who have lost their hair and some proudly display their baldness.....I was so inspired by them!
Apart from these few days of nausea, I hope to feel alot better in about a week's time. My energy is fine. Trouble is when I start to feel better, I am then paranoid about picking up an infection...fludarabine is particularly hard on the white blood cells. Remember to drink loads of water while on your treatment...helps to flush the kidneys.
I have four more cycles planned at this point and mine are done for three days straight every four weeks. I really love the three weeks clear in between!!
Becky, let us know how it goes on Monday and good luck! do you have a port? I do not and presently it is going OK though one hand has a big bruise on it at the moment from the needle....small things!!
Love and prayers,

You are right every doc is different. The one drug that you take he had said something about before. Fluarabine. But not now. IT seems that I just need to be careful till about 4-5 days after treatment with this CHOP. Actually CHO I am already beeen taking the predisone.
I do not have a port. I have the best veins in the world. I am a nurse so I always let the students practice on me, to get their skills. Not the chemo nurses though I am a patient there.
I will let you know how Monday goes, the nurse said that I won't feel bad if at all till a couple days later.
Take care
