Hi, I am having a colonoscopy done in about a week and I was wondering if anyone has had to take something called Miralax. At 2 o'clock the day before I was told to take 4 tablets of Dulcolax. At 4 o'clock I was told to mix a prescription of Miralax 225g into a 64 ounce of orange Gatorade. Anyone on here have to do that? I was just wondering if it is terrible tasting. I am not really nervous about the procedure itself, but more about the night before having to drink this stuff. I have heard it is better than the alternative. Anyway, if anyone knows what I am talking about and has taken it, I would love to hear how it is. Thank you.

Well,
I'm sure there are tons of products intended to do the same thing here. My instructions for my hemmorhoid surgery was to use a Fleet Enima the night before, and one the morning of.
Silly me went and bought the first box that said "Fleet" on it and it was Fleet Saline laxative which flushes everything out from the top down, not just the last few inches like a regular enima.
The look on the O/R nurse when I told her I drank the enima was priceless. Once I figured out what I had bought and drunk, and they knew what it was, everything was ok. The doc just said I did a little more than I needed too.
I've had two brands of these oral laxative type things. One was a lemon/lime Phospha-soda type thing, and the other was the Fleet Saline Laxative.
The first tasted like 7-Up, wasn't bad at all all. The FLeet was a bit chalky but it was 100% bearable too.
Both times it took about an hour for the "gurgling" to start and things to move. The movement and flushing lasted about 2 hours, and then a final little movement an hour later.
If your scheduled to take one at 4pm, you should be A-Ok by 8pm. The movement/flushing action wasn't as hard-core as I thought it would be. Nothing violent at all. This stuff I guess just forces the collection of water in your intestines and moves everything along.
Truth be told, I felt very refreshed afterwards. I just may do a monthly flushing for the heck of it.

Miralax is tasteless and odorless. I actually use to mix the stuff with water. It just made it taste metallicish, like I had dissolved an iron tablet in the water. Not bad. Count your blessings, you could be forced to drink the magnesium. It's nasty! I think I throw that sour stuff up everytime! Good luck.

I was given a product called GoLightley - pineapple flavored - you mix with 4 liters of cold water. This was the most disgusting stuff which tasted like pineapple motor oil. It took me 3 hours to drink that much and then it didn't even work very well. well enough to do the test though. If your using a taste less odor less product your lucky.

I have done the Miralax prep mixed in gatorade. It doesn't change the taste of the gatorade. I'm not a gatorade drinker but this was tolerable. Make sure it is cold and it goes down easier. It is much better than the gallon stuff.
Just plan on making friends with your bathroom for awhile. I stocked it with magazines and even gave myself a pedicure. I figured I might as well be productive while I'm sitting there.:)

I took generic Miralax mixed with orange Gatorade. It tasted exactly like orange Gatorade, only a tiny bit thicker. Perfectly tolerable tasting. I actually couldn't drink it ice cold though. It has to be chugged, and chugging it ice cold gave me that "ice cream headache" feeling.
