Ever have a skipped beat feeling and you sorta nod off and your eyes blink then your normal as can be?

No pain, it happens every great once in a while. Maybe it's my anxiety/gerd/being tired.

I have had a lot of heart tests and they all came back good.

Any ideas?

That sounds like what used to happen to me, but I pray that yours is just a lack of sleep.

I called my little spells ‘glitches’. It took *several* years befor the Doctors believed what was going on with me and my “nod off” spells. But finally when one of my ‘glitches’ (mini black out spells) caused me to fall down the stairs and shatter my ankle and break my leg, they finally believed me and I was sent to a Neurologist for my ‘mini black out spells’ and it was the Neurologist that told me what was going on. He said it was my heart and immediately sent me to an Electrophysiologist who put a 30 day monitor on me and befor the 30 days were up, I had a pacemaker. It took a few days but it turned out that the monitor recorded my heart stopping 8 and 9 seconds in a row. I really feel that that Neurologist saved my life.

I really hope that that yours is just a lack of sleep, but please have it checked out by a savvy Doctor.

Was it the 30 day monitor that you had to push the button to do the recordings and upload it over the phone?

I had a 48 hr continous one done and it came back normal. I also had the one that I had to push the button for 10 days and it came back normal too.

How long did your black out spells last? Was it whoa I am losing it or just an odd thing you noticed?

Hi hoosier_guy,

Yes it was a 30 day monitor where I had to push the button to do the recordings and upload it over the phone.
It took a few days befor the monitor caught my heart stopping though. I remember I kept pushing the button every time I felt my hard skip beats and I wore the phone out. How they caught my heart stopping was when I wasn't sure whether to push the button or not, and I called them to ask whether I should push the button when ever I just felt the glitches without the hard skip beats. They said push it for everything. A few hours after that the Doctor called and scheduled me to get a pacemaker a couple of days later.
By the way, through the years, all of my 24 hour monitors came back normal.

How long did my black out spells last? I didn't even know they were blackout spells. I just thought they lasted a split second; that was until I noticed there had been strange time lapses. The worst was when I would be driving and I kept 'almost' running off the road or 'almost' running into some one.

You asked "Was it whoa I am losing it or just an odd thing you noticed?" I guess 20 years ago it was ‘just an odd thing’ that I mentioned to my doctor, but it kept happening more frequently and getting worse, to the point where 15 years ago it turned into a ‘WHOA’ and ten years ago I started falling for no reason; and I started doubting my ability to drive my car safely. I finally got help for it 5 years ago…

Please hoosier_guy, have it checked out by a savvy Doctor... I’m hoping your problem is not heart related, because it is a nightmare to go through.
It might be a sleep apnea; or a reaction to meds; or not enough sleep; or a neurologic condition.

Based upon your description I am thinking it's more of a sleep thing cause it happens when I am tired or should be asleep like.

The more you describe the less it sounds like what happened to me.

I will however tell my doctor when I see him this month.

I don't have any time lapse or any sudden weakness.

Thanks for the info.
