Hi all,

If some of you remember I came on here about two weeks ago because my fiancee was having blood in his bowel movements.

All of his blood work came back normal.

Tomorrow he is having a colonoscopy. He was given the pills to start taking tonite. He is going to drink Orange Gatorade. If anyone has any tips/advice, that would be great. He is very nervous, and I am too!

Wish us luck!

Thanks, everyone.

Carrie

Tell him to rest easy. the worst part is the prep the day before, when he gets to the hospital they will get an iv started and that will be about the last thing he will remember til he wakes up. good luck.

The pills, probably pico-salax are real easy on the system compared to phospha soda or golitely.

Gatorade is good for keeping the water and electrolytes up.

A colonoscopy is a piece of cake, he'll get a tranqullizer and probably a light anesthetic. It's like going from sober to slightly drunk right away. He cannot drive for 24 hours though. The day afterward ask him what he remembers and chances are he will have trouble recalling much of the day, thus the no driving caution.

He will feel nothing at all during the procedure, may even be asleep, and will likely have no discomfort afterwards either. If he is awake the surgeon might ask him if he wants to see what it looks like. Its a dark pink, wet tunnel.
