Hi everyone. Its been a while.
Mainly I think I just need to express this, but advice and support is quite welcome.
I moved recently. I've lived in this area before, and mh options are quite superior. I'm grateful for that. Yet, this means a new pdoc (at least I get to see one instead of mostly a different nurse pract. every visit). I've seen her 2X already, and she is really nice. It still really scares me to trust someone totally new. Med changes seem to be inevitable with a new pdoc, especially when it seems that I still haven't found a completely successful or maybe optimal med mix. I'm not wonderful at self reporting symptoms or how the meds seem to be helping -- or not (even if I use a log). Things aren't wonderful as they are now, but i fear things getting worse with changes.
Basically, terrified, terrified and terrified.
Thanks for listening,
--Loopy:(

Loopy,
Gosh, it's good to hear or see your words again!
Hang in there. There is hope at the end of the tunnel.

Hi Loopy!
I know exactly what you are feeling. I have had 3 different pdocs in the last 1 1/2 years and my current pdoc(who has been my favorite) is leaving in November so I get to go through the entire switching process again. I hate having to go through all that history again and try to explain yourself when alot of the time there just aren't words to describe what you have been feeling. I hope everything goes ok and if you have any tips for this whole process I would greatly appreciate them. :)

Thanks, Jen and Mud. I see this doc again Thurs. Finally arranged medical assistance here, so things are yet different again. I get switched to Medicare in Dec. More adjustments. Nothing to do but march on through, I guess.
Don't have much time, but I'll have more to say soon. Hang in there, Jen.
Mud, glad you're here. Always a good person to "talk" to. :)

Hey Loopy! I certainly do know what you mean.
For years I would go to a psychiatrist convinced that while I thought I was perfectly fine, they would end up slapping me in the hospital (again).
Even after I was really balanced on the lithium!
If it's just basic trust that is the problem, would it help to turn it around and ask if there is any reason that you should NOT trust someone who is a specialist in the one field that could help maybe??
Are you comfortable with her? Maybe it's just too soon to totally open up and you'll get there eventually!
Take care!!!
Ruth

Thanks, Ruth.
I really do like her. And I've heard really good things about her. That's a good perspective to have. I haven't had too many bad experiences with pdocs, and can think of several that really helped.
I've bounced around so frequently, as well as lost and regained medical coverage, that I don't think I've ever gotten my meds completly as they should be. After thinking about it, I think that part of my fear is that I will start to get established with this one just to have things changed again.
One positive element I have recognized this time is that with a fresh view on my situation, she has been to identify some aspects of my illness and taken a bit of a different approach with the med treatment. It seems to really be helping.

Hi Loopy, nice to see you back.
Your quote (above), seems to really say's it all for your continued care with this new pdoc. Perhaps, you just need to know that your fears of your furture care/treatment, is just a "normal" thing to experence;considering all your past experences. Continue to stay positve with her. She wants to help you as much as you want to have the best meds/treatment. Otherwise, she would not be "good" pdoc !

Thanks, eyes. It's good to be back. I really feel lost when I don't have regular access to i-net to be here.
An update on the situation:
I had another really good appointment. I'm not very good about asking questions I have at appointments w any doc. This time, though, she was going into such detail without my asking that I felt comfortable to start asking more. She was great about it and encouraged me to ask more about anything.
And the best thing . . . I've seen her a couple of months now . . .and for the first time since sometime in grade school, I'M NOT DEPRESSED!:D

Loopy,
You have learned to develope TRUST & FAITH in yourself.
That is way you can have TRUST & FAITH in your pdoc !
Are TRUST & FAITH just tools to help reduce your Depression ?
Good Luck :)
