Hey everyone, I just want to drop in to say hello to everyone and see how everyone is doing? It seems like I am lurking lately. I guess it's easier to get swept away with daily life when you are out and about, after months of bed rest. School has been keeping me busy during the week and work on the weekends. In general, I am doing really well. Trying to get all my walking exercising in, but a recent crime spree (unbelievably scary) in my neighborhood has my family harping on me about walking alone. My Uncle and a very close friend of the family are both cops in town and if they see me walking alone they insist on taking me home. I know everyone is worried, but I am worried that I am not getting enough walking in. I am thinking of asking a few friends to join me in a sort of walking club. What do you think? I was always told, there is safety in numbers.

Anyway, the party I went to last weekend (the one I wrote on here about) went very well. I wore long pants (that I hemmed with stich-witchery) and flats I got at target. I brought an ice pack with me, but luckily never had to use it. The only bad thing was the hem ripped while I was walking and I wound up dragging my pants along the floor. My brother came to the party a little later then I did (his fire dept. had a call) so I asked him to bring me safety pins...being the man he is...he brought me bobby pins!! LOL Gotta love the difference in what is said to a man and what he hears! :) Anyway, the Bobby Pins wound up working out even better (although I had to adjust them a few times) because they held the 4 inches (I am way short) of folded fabric up. But the party overall was awesome..and I even danced for about 15 min. nothing to crazy, but it was fun.

Finally, within the past week the pain that I have in my ankle has increased substantially. I have to admit that on a walk home from my boyfriends house I stepped on a crack of the sidewalk, and semi-twisted my ankle. There was no popping or anything and it didn't really hurt right afterward, so I highly doubt I did anything to it. When I brought the pain up to my mother and my Aunt (who has had problems with her foot and had surgery once on it) was in earshot she said that it maybe because of the change in weather. It is official fall here in NJ now.. temps in the high 60's during the day and mid 30's at night, and at least one day of rain a week. Ironically, the days with the rain are the ones that my foot hurts less lately. But it really hurts bad now. I even went to the drug store today and spent 20 bucks on a refreezable gel pack because I am sick of wasting ice on this. It hasn't been swollen at all, but the pain is worse now because it comes with every step I take now...not just occassionally. Anyway, just wanted to know if anyone else thinks it might have to do with the change in the weather?

I also want to hear how everyone is doing...so please update!

Britt,

I agree with you. it is the weather. Went up to Rutgers U. again this past Sat. It took 4 hrs up and 5 hrs down. We ran into some showers, and as the weather was cool enough to have to have a lite jacket on, I can only say that by the time I got home I had to take the wraps off the foot. It was soooo swollen. I have noticed that when the temp drops it hurts and swells more. I guess we will notice discomfort with weather changed fora while.

Hey Britt!

Glad to hear all is going fairly well. Must be heaven to get up and about in the swing of life. Study hard in school! Glad to hear the party went well. At least your crother didn't bring you a pen instead of pins.

As for the walking - be safe! Around here they have a huge group of folks who walk the malls (indoors before and after it is open, thus no crowds) so maybe that might be a good option till the crime drops away?

When is your next appointment? If you don't have to go back maybe you should just give a call and ask if you should have it checked out. Could be the weather, but you said the bad days are not when it hurts you the most. A change in weather bugs me but what do I know?

Again, glad to hear you are doing pretty good overall!

:) Hey Everyone... I thought I would get more replies! hehe, I really want to know how EVERYONE is doing! Anyway, I am feeling much better. The weather is pretty cool again, but my foot is not bothering me much. In the mornings I am pretty stiff and it takes a few minutes of limping uptil I can walk normally. Overall, I am doing well. Of course the piece of glass that I stepped on (in the bad foot) doesn't help. Oh, I forgot how my foot likes to bleed! I guess I should listen to the no barefoot rule huh??

Anyway, my next appointment is the beginning of Nov., not to soon, but unless it really starts acting up I think I will wait on going in to see him. I just don't want to waste mine/his time by going there for him to tell me that it's the healing process.

Well, People! Get back to me with how you are all doing! I really would love to hear... Please take care.

-Britt
