Hi,

I'm 25, around 6ft and weigh around 12.5 stone so I'm in the ideal weight category. I haven't got a particularly healthy diet, but I do try and watch what I eat. I do a small amount of exercise as and when I can but I'm not what you'd call a physically active person.

I had a blood pressure check as part of a work medical and it came back as 146/85. I was told that this is a high blood pressure, especially when you take my age into account.

Does this blood pressure reading sound concerning?

Cheers

Hi,

Your systolic blood pessure, the top number 146, is high but your diastolic number (85) is a little high but not bad. Listen, there are a lot of things that you can do to reduce your blood pressure before thinking about medication.

You need to exercise 6 days a week, start with 20 minutes a day and increase the amount of time as you go. There are some programs online that help to get a great physical fitness like Slim in 6.

You need to restrict your salt consumption to less than 500 mg if you don't want take a diuretic. Eat a lot of vegetables and fruit, I have fround that potatoes help reduce blood pressure (but boiled not fried of course).

Finally, you need supplements like Magnesium, Flaxseed and Vitamin C. All those supplements help to reduce your blood pressure and if you do a search here on the boards you will find many information about Magnesium and how it can help reducing blood pressure.
Good luck,
Michael
