can anyone answer the question would a complex cyst with inflamatory infection cause a hot spot on a pet scan? I underwent a pet scan earlier this week and they said that the "cyst" that I have been taking antibiotics for was my primary tumor and it has matastasised to the lymphs. While I understand the levels and all I really want to hold out hope that tomarrow my surgeon will tell me this is a possibility.

Anyone here tell me what to expect? Overall picture is 2.0 cm mass in right neck, five 1 cm lymphs in left axilla, several smaller ones as well, two subclavical masses on right side with necrosis, and large mass over scapula on left side with depth of 1.4 cm. subq fat level?

Any info on prognosis and treatment outlooks would be appreciated.

Thanks
angeleyes

quess I found out my own answer, I did just have an infected cyst, the lymphs in the axilla were from drainage from the infection. Thank heavens.

Thank goodness!

On what grounds did they decide to do the pet scan? Did you have a tough time getting ins to approve it?
