Thanks Mindy ICC 10-05-2006, 04:48 PM your dr. will probably put you on meds. mine said as long as i stay under 7 i don't need anything. Coravh 10-05-2006, 05:56 PM There are 2 different ways of making the calculation from A1c to average glucose level. Using both of these your average glucose with an A1c of 7.2 % is somewhere between 150 and 175. Either way, your glucose is too high, but not horribly so. You should definitely be below 7. They say that an a1c below 7 gives you a "lower" risk of complications but if you are below 6.5 you will be even better off. Good luck to you. Cora Meme2x 10-05-2006, 09:05 PM So...I'm guessing my 8 result I got today is not good. Coravh 10-05-2006, 10:30 PM So...I'm guessing my 8 result I got today is not good. Ball park figure would be in the neighborhood of 200. mindylee 10-06-2006, 08:03 AM This was my first reading. Do you think my Dr will have me just try to control it with diet to see if that works? I have a horrible sweet tooth since my son was born 14 weeks ago. At what A1C level is considered diabetic? ICC 10-06-2006, 08:05 AM i have been diet controlled for a little over 2 years. have my A1c checked every 3 months. started at a 6.8 and for the last year they have all been around 5.6. dr. tells me everytime i see him that is great and always told me 7.0 is his mark for meds. |
