I had a stressful event on the evening of the 16th (planning a party that backfired) Anyway I had 2 peach margaritas and some nachos.

The next day I had diarrhea. I took Immodiam and got it under control. Not unusual for me. Then when I resumed my diet after a couple of days it returned. I took more (hubby said to take 2 and then 1 after second bm which seemed like a lot since I am a small person but that's what the box said) So needless to say I got Constipated, nauseous (SP?) and even dizzy at work. After a few days I had a giant Green BM and thought it was all over. So I went off the BRAT diet again. Sure enough diarrhea returned. I thought OK I am not staying bland long enough (48-72 hours at least each time). So I have gone a week and then it still returns. Since I had lost 4 lbs and it had been 3 weeks I saw an Internist 5 days ago who almosted poo-pooed (no pun intended) my complaints:
"That's not diarrhea-our stomachs just do funny things sometimes" Maybe his does but mine had never done this. He then gave me samples of Zelnorm:confused: which when I read about it I saw it CAUSES diarrhea. Its for IBS w/ constipation right. So I didn't take it.
All week I have been good then I ate some potato/cheese soup last night and explosive green diarrhea occured. I know the cheese was the cause but I had been soooo good for over a week I want to return to eating normally.
WHat is this!????? what can I do??????
Thanks in advance:
Brenda

brobson,

I have read that green poop of any kind stems from injesting unatural dyes, food coloring, could be the margaritas coloring additives. What does cheese do to the system? I'm a cheese freak at times but not alot.

Getting dizzy isnt good.

Fever/ vomiting are a sign to get to the Dr

Hi - What helped me when I had chronic diarrhea was taking 1 dose of Metamucil (psyllium) each day. I had had diverticulitis and had antibiotics to cure it. After that I began to have diarrhea. My gastroenterologist told me to start taking Metamucil because that causes the stool to become formed.
I did that, and my stools got normal (normal for me with diverticulosis). I have been taking it ever since (4 years). My internist told me that whenever I feel that I have either constipation or diarrhea that I should take more doses of the psyllium - which I have done when on vacation or visiting places where I am not able to eat lots of fiber. Of course, this may or may not help you, but I don't think it would hurt to try it. I know the frustration you feel - I had diarrhea for one whole summer and lost almost 10 pounds before I was advised about the psyllium. Best of luck! :)

:p Well I just tried it, wish me luck!
My mom suggested the same thing. Apparantly my now grown brother had constipation and diarrhea as a child. He became blocked and the other intestine would get diarrhea or something.

I hope it works......Thanks so much.

I was able to keep tuna, crackers, cheese and tomato soup down today so maybe I won't need a dr. come Friday.
I may go anyway though.

I have a 4 year old who has colitis not sure if it is UC or Chrones but I do know that when I gave him a herbal parasite cleanse (wormwood, blackwalnut, & cloves) he improved within 24 hours after having diarrhea for 10 weeks. He did have a stool check done for these but was negative. However all my reading said they are hard to detect. Also Grapefruit seed extract is very good too for general bowel cleaning. Of course a pre/probiotic is great for the bowel too. It could be you had a virus and now your stomach emzymes are out of whack. Good Luck.
