I just sorta deal with the daily "run over by a truck" pain. I think the glucosamine and mag malate helps a bit. The real bone aching that get to me during weather changes.Like driving a chisel between my big toe or knees..The doc gave me a script for 50 mg ultram...Can this be taken or Is any one taking this occassionally for the worse pain..What are others taking for the occassional 8-10 range pains..God Bless..Kim

What's glucasamine? Why are you taking it? Soon I will start magnesium supplements. I take b12 and get b12 shot every week with magnesium injections. The work for awhile that's why I have to continue.

Hi Kim:

I take ultram every once in awhile. I take half of a 50 mg tablet since I'm very sensitive to drugs. That is the only strong pain killing drug I take.

Kirstee

i have finally found pain relief that at least helps me to function. norco, soma, requip, cymbalta. of course it has taken 6yrs to figure out what combination of meds will help with some of the pain. everyone is different and the same meds might not help everyone.
i hope this helps.

Hi Kim:

I do not have any side effects or rebound from taking such a small dose on occasion. Since I have been on the guiafenesin protocol, the pain is usually pretty minimal, if at all. I have occasional flares, such as IC, which precipitates the need to take the Ultram. When I first was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, the physician I was seeing at the time prescribed 2 tablets of this stuff three times per day. I was as drunk as a skunk! It didn't take long for me to figure out another way to deal with fibro since I was working at the time (I have recently retired - hooray!).

Blessings,
Kirstee

Is ultram like vicodin? I will need something but I really don't want narcotics.

I've taken vicodin when having teeth pulled, they made me feel loopy.

Hi Hope:
Ultram is not like Vicodin. I believe Ultram is not considered a narcotic and is less habit-forming. When I take a small dose, I feel better without feeling loopy (as you described). I did, however, feel loopy when I was taking the prescribed dose of 2 tabs 3 X daily. Ultram is a frequently prescribed drug for fibro sufferers. If you were given Vicodan, maybe the physician felt you were at a level of pain that required a stronger med. Every individual is different when it comes to medication.

Blessings,
Kirstee
