View Full Version : Update on Biopsy/Tell Me What You Think

Ok... after 5 painstaking days of waiting to hear something, my surgeon finally calls me tonight. She says that she didn't want me to wait over the weekend. She said the pathologist said/thought it was cancer but are sending my specimen to Seattle for a 2nd opinion. I then asked her what she thought, she said that it didn't look like cancer when she took it out of me (but isn't lymphoma a blood cancer and only detectable under microscope?) but she said that's why its being sent to Seattle for a 2nd opinion.

What do you guys think? I pretty much already know the answer to why my glands are swollen. But if it wasn't cancer, wouldn't they be able to tell that right away? I mean, why are they sending it away for a 2nd opinion? Ugh, now I have a whole other week to wait to find out. I pretty much already know the results, but I guess it could be completely wrong and I have nothing right?

Thanks for your support :)

I was right where you are now a year or so ago. I had a biopsy of a node in my neck..doc said it looked like cancer, so she took it out. Told me it looked like cancer and wanted to send it to NIH for a second opinion. Turns out it was nothing, just an overgrowth of cells from when I had a virus.
I know that you are going to worry, there is no way around that, but I hope that my story makes you feel a bit better!
Good luck! My thoughts are with you!

I would not commit to having cancer just yet, sometimes they just want to make sure they are not mis-diagnosing you with either having or not having cancer...Await the results before you convince yourself...
