View Full Version : PVC's

Just wondering if other people have had days where they have quite a few PVC's over a few hours. I get the odd PVC sometimes daily, sometimes nothing for weeks but once a year I get a bad run of them. About a month ago I had about 30 over 4 hours - they came at irregular intervals and I could really feel them in my throat. I did not get any dizziness or chest pain with them. Last time I went to A & E (ER) and they said it was nothing to worry about and that it would settle. I fear dying a sudden death from them and leaving my husband and children behind - my youngest really relies on me as she is disabled. Sometimes when I get the odd pvc I may get a little dizziness but I do not not whether it is due to panicing or whether it is due to the pvc. I had a 24 halter moniter last week that showed 'rare' pvc's and avc's....which the doctor says is common in most people. I even had a real dizzy period of a few moments whilst the moniter was on but there was nothing abnormal on the reading so nothing abnormal was happening with my heart. I am booked in for an echocardiogram this Tuesday. The cardiologist said that if nothing shows up on the echocardiogram then I am to stop worrying about the pvc's and let them run their course. Do other people have 'periods' of numerous pvc's and then only the odd one or two for months???????

Hey. Mine have always had that pattern. The key is to find out what you are doing different that triggers them. For me, it is stress, loss of sleep or lack of exercise. I've started taking Magnesium which really helps. But if I feel them starting after having been away awhile, I start working out more. Just walking or jogging once a day can really help. A heart specialist once told me, also, if they are bothering you, get up and move around. Physical activity is supposed to keep them at bay.

Hi Shazza,

Just wanted to reply to your post. I cant answer your questions because I am in the same boat. A few weeks ago just suddenly had a 5 or 6 day run with continous PVCs. During that time went and had a EKG which showed them....was sent to a Heart center where they did an echo....and told me they found Mitral Valve Stenosis but not to worry. I am now wearing a monitor for 30 days.....but the PVCs have stopped almost completely. I go back to the Heart Center Nov 2. The doctor there gave me a beta blocker but told me not to take it unless I had too because he wanted the PVCs on the monitor, but he also gave me Acid Reflux med called Protonix which I have been taking every day. I dont know if that helped the PVCs or they just ran their course. I will find out more in Nov. But your case sounds a great deal like what happened to me. Maybe its just been a fluke, or maybe it will only come about occasionally. Let me know what you find out. The PVCs can be very scary!
