Hi all. I am in the process of weaning myself off of 5/325 percoset. I have 2 weeks to do it. Currently I am on 2 pills (cut in half/spread over 4 doses) per day. My pharmacist told me not to go ct. So, my question is, how low of a dose can I go before I actually stop altogether wo withdrawal? I've already cut down from 60mg day to 10, and everytime I lower the dose, I do experience symptoms, but nothing intollerable. Thanks for any input.

You are most of the way there.
you have enough to cut down by 1/2 mg each day which would put you at about 3mg on your last day.
by that time you shouldnt experience any bad w/d

The one thing to be aware of is depression after stopping.it can take a while for your body to adjust but you will feel better each day.If you taper for the next 2 weeks you should be fine when its time to stop.

good luck

If you are taking (2) 5/325 pills and cutting them in half which allows you to take a half a pill 4 times a day just slowly taper down to 3 times a day then 2 times a day, then one and your done. You are by no means taking a very large dose in my opinion if you are taking only 2 5/325 pills daily. That is 10 mgs of Hydocodone and a lot of tylenol each day. Tapering off should be real straight forward and easy to accomplish. I take it you are feeling better and don't need the medicine as you are attempting in discontinuing it and the constant useage of the 325 mgs of acetophetamin(tylenol) per dose I hear is not good for real long periods of time, as your internal organs (liver & Kidney's) have to filter all of the acetophetamin. I am so glad that you are able to not need the medicine. It is always advisable to check with your physician prior to discontinuing any medication but I just don't really forsee you having a problem if you ween your self off of this small amount of medicine over a short period of time and then just quit taking it if it is not necessary. Surely after cutting back you body will never miss that small of a dose. What you are taking is about the least strongest medicine and it should be relatively easy to discontinue it's use. Good Luck and God Bless

Dear Scotty and Coastline, Thanks for the replies! You've made me feel better. I've heard that the going from something to nothing is the worst part, and since I have 2 weeks off now, thought let's just do it. I'm sick of the diarhea, nervousness, sleeplisness, etc., everytime I lower my dose. I feel like I've been in perpetual withdrawals for 3 weeks! I had back surgery 3 weeks ago, and my horrible sciatica/weakness is gone! I just want to be done with this. I know ibuprofen can take care of whatever pain I'm now experiencing.
Thanks so much for your input! God bless!
