I was on Yasmin for a year. However, since graduating from college, I am getting ready to lose my insurance coverage through my parents. I asked for my gyno to write me a script for something that I could get generic. She prescribed me Loestrin 21 1.5/30 (generic: microgestin 1.5/30). On pills 12/13 of the 1st pack, I started either having breakthrough bleeding or a period. As of today (pill 16), I am still lightly bleeding (ranging from pinkish to stringy blackish-brown). I know I am not pregnant, but this bleeding is an inconvenience. I haven't called my gyno yet because I was waiting to see if this would stop on it's own. Does anyone care to speculate what's going on and if I should be concerned?

Hmmm well I was put on the generic of loestrin, which was Junel 1/20 or something along those lines but I haven't gotten any type of period either every month I would just get discoloration of discharge and all in all I didn't really know if it was normal or not either, so we are kind of in the same boat.I've been on it for two months now and I have yet to get a normal period. I do however recall the side effects and breakthrough bleeding was said to be normal and the discoloration but I'm really not sure. I'm going to give my doctor a call sometime this week so maybe she can give me some info, since we are kind of on the same type of pill. Good luck I hope you can find out something :) wish I could be more of a help.

I definitely appreciate the input. I figure this is just the normal transition from one brand to the next, but I am so used to not having to worry about spotting/bleeding while I am on the active pills. When I was on the Yasmin, I had nausea for the 1st month, and that was it! No spotting or breakthrough bleeding! So, this switch has got me bothered... for more than one reason. :dizzy:

yeah I can understand that. I only had nausea for about a month but I still get head aches and then theres this whole problem. It's all just a crazy process but I wish you luck! and if I find out any information I'll be sure to let you know

hi, if you do decide to switch pills again try solia it's a generic for Desogen. It is suposed to be a good pill for break through bleeding. I have insurance so it's $10 for me, but at Brooks the full price is $29. I love this pill and though not alot of other people on this board take it the ones who do really like it, for me I've had no side effects except clear skin!

If I switch BC again, I might just go back to Yasmin. I had no problems on it. And if I am happy, it's worth the price, lol. But, I dunno... I will just have to see what my gyno suggests; she'll probably tell me to give it a few months.
