hi, i'm new here. I have a question about purging, I've tried to stop doing it but I haven't been able to. Anyways, sometimes after I throw up I get shakey and feel bad like somethings wrong with me, it's hard to explain but does anyone know what this means? Also does anyone have tips for telling people about your eating disorder, I don't know if I'll ever be able to actually tell my friends, because I don't know how the'll react. thanks

i dont know technically what is happening after you purge, but i think that the action of purging is so harmful and harsh on your body (i mean if you think about it's almost like you are making your stomach muscle have convulsions) that it takes all your energy away from you. maybe that's why you shake, i dunno. and about telling your friends, even if it seems like it may be hard to do, i think it's something you should do, or at least tell someone who can help you (or help you to get helP)...i think keeping something like that a secret for so long will become a huge burden (maybe it already is)...i dont really have any tips for how to do it, maybe just start with telling your closest friend, get them by themself and just tell them flat out...even if they are shocked, i am sure they'll be glad you told them...sorry this isn't really good advice...

Hi,
When I binged I used to get shaky and light headed from throwing up. I find if you drink lots of water this helps. It is a very exshausting thing for your body to go through and it really helped me to quit when I told my mum. For me the bulimia fed off it being a secret and after telling people close to me it helped. I used to talk to my mum for hours instead and saw a psycologist who helped me to get in touch with my feelings and understand I was trying to avoid dealing with them and pain. I think when telling people just be honest and you might be surprised at how helpful and understanding they are. It takes courage to tell but it is worth it as it will help you to recover. Good luck.
