Yesterday, I had to spend the entire day with someone who has a really mean sense of humour. He put me down all day, until finally I sort of "snapped" and broke down. I couldn't control anything about my body, I was crying and shaking and had trouble breathing properly. I don't know what this was . . . Someone thought I was having an axiety attack from all the stresses in my life, and this guy was just sort of the last straw. Now my boyfriend is insisting I go see my doctor about everything, but I CAN'T. My doctor treated me for chicken pox growing up, how can I go to him and say "Well, for about 5 years now, I've been abusing my body and sometimes I feel so bad about myself that I wish for death." I just CAN'T say that!!! I'll look like a stupid whiny teenager who feels fat and can't handle a joke. My two questions for you guys are 1) Was what I had an axiety attack? and 2) What should I do about this doctor thing? It's not like I can afford to go on any meds anyways. Thanks.

Fiona

Am not a doctor or even an adult I am 16, but i am being treated for anxiety attacks, among many other problems.. anorexica/bulimia, depression, ocd, for the attacks thou am now on meds. Paxil.. and what u described the stress piling up and the uncontrolable crying is totally a syptom that i have and the shaking too... i have had them.. alot..i definately think u should go see a doctor and u don't have to go to ur family doctor....go somewhere that u can feel comfortable.. i dont' know if am being any help.. but i hope everything works out for the best w/ u.. and anxiety attacks r a real thing.. and if ur experience those types of problems it at less worth ur own health to see a dr. bout it....

Hi Fiona,
It sounds like either something really upset you that youve been bottling up or could be an anxiety attack. I have broken down the way you described shaking, crying and losing control when I have held in pain for a while. So firstly you need to work out whether it is your body trying to get the emotional pain out or whether it is due to your ed and physical symptoms of weakness and lack of food or it could also be an anxiety/ panic attack. You should see a doctor to check out the physical side and then maybe a councillor or psycologist. Find someone neutral if you don't want your family dr to know. I am not a medical doctor but have you considered you may also be suffering from depression? I would see someone about your symptoms and just talk about things. With my ed I had alot of anxiety and crying spells which often go hand in hand with eds as well as depression. I still get this even though I am recovering and still need to talk to a psycologist to get my feelings out so they don't cause so much anxiety. Take care.
Mel
