I have been taking oxycodone 10/325 (generic for percosett) 3 to 4 times a day since the beginning of May. I was on Lortab 10...but I guess either my pain or my body became used to it..I took the Lortab for a couple of years.

To me the oxycodone is not much different than the Lortab...after the first day or two, during which I was a little more tired . It does help with the pain that I have in my lower back/legs...but it does wear off in about 4 or 5 hrs...so then I have to wait another hr. until I can take it. On bad days I will take it in 5 hrs.

I have had problems with medications in the past, but so far this one hasn't given me any problems. I hope that it helps you....

Hi Kelsey: I would imagine you are referring to Oxycodone as in Roxicodone or a generic of such that is a 30 mg pill. I have taken these (and many others on the board have too) for breakthrough meds. Oxycodone comes in 5, 15, and 30 mg tabs and should provide you more pain relief than Norcos have. How many are you allowed per day? Every four hours would be six, if needed, but I was curious if your doc said to try to keep it to four or five or if he/she is leaving it up to you.

I took it when I was on Oxycontin for BT and I found it to be quite effective. I hope you will get good pain relief from it. Please let us know.

hi all,
thanks for the help. I am on the 30 mg tabs. I can take 1-2 every 4 to 6 hours if needed. So far i am only taking 1/2 a tab about every3-4 hours til i get use to it,but so far I am doing ok with this dose ,i have took 1 whole dose 2 times .This med is a lot better it is controling my pain. So i am very please. Also i can take this med around the clock i couldn't do that with the norcos because i was to take them 4 times a day so i needed them every 4 hours which left me in pain many hours a day. So thank god pain relief... thamks kelsey

Kelsey: Just a note to you concerning the Oxycodone tabs. You're getting 30 mg with these, but no Tylenol (apap), so you can take more per day, if needed. The Norcos have 325 mg of apap in them, that's one of the reasons docs limit you on the number you can take in a day.

I was also on Roxicodone for almost 3 years before switching to a LA med.

when i needed to switch to a long acting med my doc gave me a choice between Oxycontin or a LA morphine.
I chose Morphine because I felt as though i built up a tolerance to oxy rather quickly, but Oxycodone was a wonderful pain medication.

I remember when i switched from norco to percocet. It took me a couple of weeks to get accomodated to the oxy but it controlled my back pain well.

It really needs to be dosed Q4 to keep the pain down.I needed to take it every 4 hrs

I am a bit confused....my oxycodone 10/325 has tylenol...(the 325)...it is the generic for perc's... I can take it 4 times a day..but there is the problem of wearing off too soon. I don't know what the other med. you were discussing is...?????

The oxycodone (10/325) is helping me, for now. Except for the breakthrough flares I have about every 3 or 4 weeks. ANOTHER STORY!!

Hope that the oxycodone continues to help...

Percocet has apap,in your case 325mg
you are taking generic percs

Roxicodone is the same med without any tylenol in it,just pure oxycodone.

If you take meds for a long period of time its best to do away with the tylenol
which is no good for your liver.

You can safely take up to 2000mg of tylenol daily.

I take oxycodone 30mg. tabs for breakthrough pain. I am allowed up to 4 pills per day as needed. Your doc is being very liberal with the amount of oxycodone he is giving you if he is allowing 2 30mg. tabs every 4 hours as needed for pain. I know you aren't using that much per day, and that's a good thing. But it's nice to know that if your pain becomes worse or your current dose doesn't do the trick anymore you can always go up to the amount he's allowing. I have found that the 30mg oxycodone is very good in stopping my pain. My base pain med is methadone, 120 mg. per day broken up into 40mg. three times per day. In addition, I am taking Topomax, 300 mg. per day. Take care - KathyMac
