Did you get acne after the IUD was inserted or did it get worse? I got mine inserted almost 2 months ago and have been getting breakouts basically ever since. I thought it may have been a new makeup I tried but I stopped using that several weeks ago and I am still breaking out. That is the only thing I have done different. Thanks!

i have suffered from acne since the birth of my daughter 7 years ago, but it did get worse when i got my IUD a year ago. i tried lots of different remedies which did not work. i realized that my only other choices were to get help from my doctor or have the IUD removed. i really did not want to remove the IUD, so my doctor had me on a couple of different topicals but neither worked. i am now on spironolactone, and for the first time in years, my skin is nearly clear.

Yup my skin was totally clear till I got it in, now I've got an outbreak, especially along my jawline. Hopefully it will clear within a month or so

I have already had Mirena removed, but I did have bad acne while on it. It started about 3 days after insertion. It was so bad that covering with makeup made it worse. My face was red and raw and there was nothing I could do to make it better.

Has anyone "grown" out of it without getting the IUD removed or started prescription meds? I HATE the thought of getting a prescription for it. If there were hope that I would grow out of it I would just stick it out but it's pretty intolerable right now--I am so aggravated by it. On the other hand, that is the only side effect that I have had with it--that I know of right now.

I have had my IUD in for about 3 months. Aside from the cramping the acne hasn't been an issue for me. I have the "normal" monthly breakout when my period comes, but for the most part, my skin has been great. I was on the pill for 13 years prior to switching to the IUD. I think my skin has gotten better since the IUD.
