Has anyone had the Essure procedure done? If so what are your thoughts on it?

also when you had your consultation what did it consist of?

nobody on this board has had this procedure done?? I have a consultation this friday and I was hoping to find out what will happen during that visit. I looked online and it doesn't mention anything that happens during the consultation. Just in case anyone doesn't know it is permanent birth control for women.

I have only heard of it before, and very few women have had it done. If I remember correctly, there should be a thread within the last few months that you should be able to find where there was someone talking about it.

Yeah - I'm well aware of what it is. Actually want to do it. But can't find a doc that will agree, since I'm 26 and no kids. They don't seem to care how SURE you are that you never want any (in the words of a friend of mine) 'crotchlings' - lol

So I can't really help you. But just be sure to ask ANY questions you might have, even if they seem silly to you.

Thank you both for your responses. Well, I go for the consultation today. I can relate to what you said because I knew I didn't want kids when I was 16 and now that I am 40 nothing has changed. Yet, when I was 16 they told me I couldn't have something like this done because I was to young and that I would be taking the choice away from the man. It's like is it not my body???
I will let you know how it goes today. I just hope my anxiety doesn't wreck it for me.

So, how did it go?

It went well today. We talked about the procedure and what to expect. Now I have a 30 day waiting period then I can have it done! I can't wait! He did say that after it is done you have to use another form of birth control until you go back for the HSG to make sure that your tubes are blocked.
I will let you know when my date is to have this done.
