I found the following statement when reading about N-Acetyl Cysteine:

"When taking N-acetyl-cysteine it is recommended that two to three times as much vitamin C be taken at the same time. Failure to do so may result in more harm than good from taking this product because of the prolonged presence of the oxidized form of L-cysteine."

Does anyone know if this is accurate? If so, does that mean that taking N-Acetyl Cysteine is creating a free radical in L-cysteine?

Thanks for any help,

I'm not sure if thats true about NAC and needing more vitamin-C. Cysteine in NAC is very good at raising intracellular Glutathione levels which is the bodies master Antioxidant so take more vit-C if you want but i think NAC is a great product to raise Glutathione........

Thanks 6foot3,

In further reading I also found that taking a wide range of antioxidants, ie, CQ10, Alpha lipoic acid, multiple vitamins, etc., help all these work together in a good way that doesn't promote pro-oxidants.

Thanks,
